This lecture will start with a broad overview of the composition of the Earth’s core, focusing on the source of our knowledge and associated uncertainties. Then Dr. Li will showcase a recent study on carbon, one of the candidate light elements in the core. By integrating astrochemical observations, disk modeling, and geophysical constraints on the carbon content of the core, we trace Earth’s carbon to presolar grains and infer early carbon loss in most of Earth’s building blocks.
