Ningli Zhao is a mineral and rock physicist, and Carnegie's first recipient of the Dr. Paul G. Silver Postdoctoral Fellowship. He uses experiments at extreme conditions and micro-analysis to understand the dynamic evolution of the earth.  While at EPL, Zhao works with Staff Scientist Dr. Peter van Keken, to develop thermomechanical models for subduction zones incorporating the recent advancements in experimental rock physics (specifically diffusion creep rheology for peridotite).
