Overview
Francesca is an experimental mineral physicist and petrologist with a strong interest in exoplanets. She’s interested in the relation between the mineralogical properties of exoplanet’s interior and their observables and my work will be dedicated to investigate diversity of exoplanets in term of interior composition and structure. Using different type of experiments to study the evolution of different chemical systems at pressures and temperatures consistent with planetary interiors. She wants to establishing the phase relations occurring between the stable phases and their physical properties, both in the subsolidus and molten state. Part of her work has been dedicated to the study of thermal equations of state for exotic carbon bearing phases, as well as iron and iron alloys. By studying mineralogical association uncommon for the Earth’s interior she’s look forward to understanding more about the diversity of exoplanets.
