Chi
Yan

Geophysics & Geodynamics

Chi Yan joined the Earth and Planets Laboratory in May 2023 from a postdoctoral position at the Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on planetary interior structures and evolution by investigating their internal magnetic fields using numerical dynamo simulation. At EPL, Yan works with Peter Driscoll and Cian Wilson on an NSF-funded project to study thermo-chemical convection in Earth and planetary cores.

She received her Ph.D. in Earth & Planetary Sciences from Johns Hopkins University in 2021, her M.A. in Physics from the University of Toronto in 2016, and her B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University Nanjing, JS, China.
